I had the extreme pleasure of spending time with Vic , Raewyn and Julie of Red Carpet Tours as part of my New Zealand experience. Their rich knowledge and deep love for this magical country is mixed with a sense of loving kindness towards their tour-ees. They are Hobbitologists and Lord of the Rings experts, but Red Carpet Tours offers more than facts and photo ops. If you want to fully experience the spiritual magic of this beautiful country, do it with the best- Red Carpet Tours.

Responsible Tourism

Red Carpet Tours is now Carbon Neutral.

Our Carbon Footprint was calculated in October 2010 by 'Carbon South' and covered the previous 12 months i.e. November 2009 to October 2010. Our emission sources have been identified as: Transport fuel 69% (Van touring) and Air travel 31% (internal flight within NZ).

Red Carpet Tours is committed to submitting to annual audit of our operation and purchasing Carbon Credits in the Tararua Wind Farm. The electricity generated is then fed into the National Grid.

When on Tour with us we invite you to assist us by using recycling systems as available while touring through Middle Earth.

Our aim is to leave only our footprints behind, Kia Ora!

Christchurch Earthquake update

July 2011

We are so appreciative of the many messages of concern and support we have received following the terrible tragedy that the people of Christchurch are coping with right now. Those who have been on a Red Carpet Tour will want to know that 'Grandalf-Derek's home is structurally sound but was tossed about inside. Some interior doors are warped, restricting access to rooms.  He and Margaret are coping like so many others, without power , water or sewerage.  Their vast experience tramping and mountaineering will surely stand them in good stead at this time and Derek always puts a  positive spin on any challenges.  Hold these good people in your thoughts.  For those wanting to help in some way, the best and most immediate help you can give is to make a donation to the Red Cross or Salvation Army, who are right there, doing a wonderful job looking after people and giving first hand assistance where ever it is needed, in a wide variety of ways.

Christchurch is likely to be off limits for quite some time as you can imagine, with so much repair work needed and the anticipated on-going aftershocks.

The mid-tour overnight stop that we usually make there will now move to a small town that is closer to 'Edoras'.  Safety and comfort are always a priority and this adjustment to the itinerary will be ideal.  Please keep the people of Christchurch in your thoughts and prayers.

"It's a dangerous business, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no telling where you might be swept off to."

Vic, Raewyn and Julie James.

THE 'SPIRIT OF AOTEAROA' Tour

New Zealand is a haven for lovers of natural beauty.  You will find a sample of all that we can find on this planet within our shores.  The time has come for you to experience this phenomenon yourself.

We offer you a tour that embraces both the natural beauty and the spirituality that makes New Zealand so unique.  Let us show you never ending beaches, mighty kauri trees still growing after 2,000 years, glaciers, pristine rain forests, deep gorges, spectacular mountains, lakes - and pure rivers and streams that you can drink from.

There will also be an opportunity for you to meet the indigenous Maori people,  whose cultural and spiritual beliefs urge them to assume the role of kaitiaki ~ guardians of our natural environment.

A minimum of 6 passengers required. The dates can be arranged to suit your particular needs. Facebook would be a good place to form your groups.

"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."

~ Gandalf, 'The Lord of the Rings'.
